NBA 2K16 for Apple TV Crashes White Screen

I have NBA 2K16 for my 64GB Apple TV 2 and have had continuing problems with the app. The current issue is that the app is crashing after the main page with players Harden, Curry, and Davis featured. I have deleted the game and re-downloaded it and it still crashes with a white screen after pressing “A” to continue on the remote pad that came with the Apple TV. I was previously having this issue on all of my apps, but found a solution to download a free app and “reactivate” my account with the App Store. Now, all of my other games and apps are working fine and just a few weeks later, I’m now having the “white crash screen” solely occurring in this game. Any thoughts/help? Thanks!

Here is the response from the NBA 2K16 developer.

As you can see the developer and Apple is playing the blame game. Their response is as follows:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us at 2K Support.

From what I understand you were able to play NBA2K16 on your Apple TV before, but now it keeps crashing. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do to offer troubleshooting support at 2K. Apple Support should offer troubleshooting. However, we have received several tickets in which we were told that Apple Support is sending players back to us.

I did my due diligence of looking for answers though and found that the issue starts after an additional data download (update) from Apple. Also, some players have reported that deleting the game and then reinstalling it has not worked, neither does restarting apple TV or doing a TV cache clear (in which case you would have to back up all your library, which might take some time). So, when you contact them, you would need to provide them with more information, specifically any error message you are getting and the type of Apple TV you have (4th generation?). Finally, please ask them whether the use of their new controller has anything to do with the issue.

We apologize for any inconveniences and thank you for your patience throughout this time! Please contact us again to let us know if your issue was resolved.

Best regards,

2K Support

@Winston... I totally agree.

I hate that Apple and the Developer is not showing any type of concern.

Here are my suggestions. One or the other... not both.

1. IF IT'S ON APPLE... Apple should offer a full credit of the purchased game app, considering it was bought thru their system. Especially in seeing that the problem may have originated when Apple did the new update.

2. IF IT'S ON THE DEVELOPER... The developer should offer a free download for the newer NBA2K17, considering it is their game... and they should make it totally playable on Apple's system.

I hate to say it, but Apple is starting to remind me more and more of Android. (Maybe it's time to switch...hmmm)

Maybe I should sell:

4 of my Apple TVs

2 of my iPad Air 2s

2 of my iPhone 6s Plus'

1 MacBook Pro

Should i continue...?

@Apple... i hope you're listening. Please hear our legitimate complaints, and respond accordingly.

Apps that are available in the app store need to have tighter restrictions.

C'mom... this isn't the Apple I used to know at all.

Humbly submitted / replied.

I made it my duty today, to get some of actual resolution to the concern. I made sure that both the developer and Apple were made aware of each others response in the matter... over and over again, with documentation to prove it.

In the end, my issue was resolved, and I am very pleased with the outcome.

IN CONCLUSION:

Make sure you contact Apple and the developer, and document everything. (Yes I said everything)

The day you purchased the game, when the problems occurred, did you re-install the game, the developers response, etc... everything. It will provide helpful answers in the end.

n addition to all the details from previous post...

Here are the steps I would take, (assuming you've tried to delete and re-install the app) so that you advise both parties of your status / steps:

1. The website I used to contact the developer was http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us

From there, click on "Submit Request", complete the form request as needed.

2. Once the developer responds simply, call Apple Support team and advise them of the problem, and what steps you have already taken.

About the 3rd go around of calling and complaining to Apple ., I was able to talk to a member of the support team that went above and beyond the call of duty... literally. This was after explaining to them how much I have invested in Apple also. In the end, it was that particular support rep that contacted his supervisor(s), and maybe others above his pay grade to satisfy my request.

In the end, I am still a satisfied Apple customer, but I can't say the same for the developer of NBA2K.

No... the game has not worked at all since the crash.

With my refund, I guess they here hoping that I would just download the never 2k17 version... but trust me, I never plan to buy another 2k game ever (at least for Apple TV).

As an FYI... 2k support has been contacting me the last couple of days about the same issue. Although Apple has resolved my complaint, I figured it wouldn't hurt to at least see how much help they would provide.

They (2k support) is now telling me that they are not the developers... they are only the publishers.

They provided this "community forum" to express my comments in hopes that the developers will see my message and respond accordingly. https://forums.2k.com/
